The new way to dry shampoo.
A patented refillable brush. Organic powder. Clean scalp, no aerosol, no white residue.
m'Chel Haircare is a San Francisco–based clean haircare brand founded in 2017 by Michelle Kim. The flagship Day After™ Brush is a patented dry shampoo applicator — the brush design keeps powder on hair strands, not on your scalp, so no itch, no dust cloud, no aerosol can. Paired with sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner bars for a zero-waste wash routine. Featured in HuffPost, Life & Style Magazine, and Modern Salon.
Dry shampoo doesn't need an aerosol can. It doesn't need to sit on your scalp. It doesn't need to leave white dust. We rebuilt the category.
Four things every Day After™ Brush does.
Powder on hair, not on scalp
Traditional aerosol sprays coat the scalp directly, which is what causes the itchy, dry, clogged-pore reactions most people associate with dry shampoo. The Day After™ Brush disperses powder through bristles — the powder lands on mid-lengths and ends where it belongs. Your scalp stays clean.
No aerosol propellant, no mystery
Aerosol dry shampoo cans use butane or propane as a propellant, sprayed under pressure into your hair. The Day After™ Brush has three ingredients: colloidal oatmeal, arrowroot powder, silica. Plus gentle fragrance if you want it. That's the whole formula.
Reusable for up to two years
The brush body lasts. When the powder runs low, you swap in a $28 refill pod — unscrew counter-clockwise, pop in, thread back. One brush, ten refills, no new plastic each time. This is the sustainable wing of the clean-beauty category done right.
50% more oil absorption
Third-party testing showed the Day After™ Brush removes up to 50% more oil per application than ordinary aerosol dry shampoo sprays. The bristle application gets powder into oil-contact zones where it actually works — not just suspended above the hair.

The m'Chel look.
What you switched away from. What you switched to.
The way it always was.
The way it should be.
Michelle Kim — hairstylist, chemist, inventor.
Michelle Kim started as a freelance hairstylist. When she developed chemical sensitivity to salon products, she left the floor and moved into R&D — learning formulation, testing, and product design from the inside of the industry. She spent six years researching dry shampoos before she designed the Day After™ Brush. The brush is her patent.
m'Chel Haircare launched in 2017 out of San Francisco with a single question: what does clean haircare look like when it's engineered by someone who got sick from the old way? The brush, the bars, the refill system — every piece of the line is built around that question.
Michelle was interviewed by Modern Salon about the Day After™ Brush. The brand has since been featured in HuffPost and Life & Style Magazine. The products are patent-protected, made in San Francisco, and sold direct-to-consumer through m'Chel's website and Curated Sense.
"I built the dry shampoo I couldn't find on any shelf — the one that works without what I was allergic to." — Michelle Kim, Founder
Aerosol dry shampoo was never clean. We made one that is.
The conventional aerosol dry shampoo category includes butane + propane propellants under pressure, talc or synthetic starch coating the scalp, and a disposable steel can every month or two. The Day After™ Brush was engineered specifically to replace each of those. A brush that lasts two years. Refills that slide in. A three-ingredient powder applied via bristle, not spray. Clean haircare with a patent behind it.

How is the Day After™ Brush different from aerosol dry shampoo?
The brush dispenses powder through bristles, so the powder lands on hair strands rather than directly on scalp. That eliminates the itch, white residue, and scalp irritation people report with aerosol cans. The Day After™ Brush also has no propellant — no butane, no propane, no pressurized spray. The formula is three ingredients: colloidal oatmeal (soothing), arrowroot powder (oil absorbing), silica (texture). Fragrance-free option available.
How long does one Day After™ Brush last?
The brush body is designed to last up to two years of regular use. The powder inside typically lasts several months for daily users, 4-6+ months for less-frequent users. When the powder runs low, unscrew the brush head counter-clockwise, slide in a $28 refill pod, and thread it back on. No new brush needed.
Is it safe for color-treated hair?
Yes. The Day After™ Brush powder is sulfate-free, paraben-free, and cruelty-free. It does not strip color treatments. The High Shine Shampoo Bar and Weightless Daily Conditioner Bar are also formulated for color-treated hair — sulfate-free cleansing with color-preserving emollients (shea butter, sunflower seed oil).
Does it really absorb 50% more oil than aerosol?
Third-party testing showed the Day After™ Brush removes up to 50% more oil per application than ordinary aerosol dry shampoos. The reason is contact: bristle application pushes powder into the oil-rich areas of the hair shaft, while aerosol spray suspends powder above the hair before it settles unevenly. Contact + absorption > spray + settle.
Is the formula fragrance-free?
You choose. The Day After™ Brush comes in Original (with a light, clean fragrance) and Fragrance-Free. If you have a sensitive scalp, perfume sensitivity, or just prefer unscented haircare, the fragrance-free version uses the same three core powders without fragrance.
How do the shampoo + conditioner bars compare to bottles?
The High Shine Shampoo Bar and Weightless Daily Conditioner Bar are solid-format versions of traditional liquid shampoo/conditioner. One bar of shampoo lasts roughly 50-60 washes — equivalent to two 12 fl oz bottles. No plastic bottle, no water weight in shipping, biodegradable draining tray included. Sulfate-free, paraben-free, color-safe.
