— Buki · in their own words
Six engineered components, measured.
What's actually happening inside a Buki tech tee — the fabric chemistry, the cut, the seam construction, and the wash-tolerance specs that define the brand.
Five-Layer Tech Fabric
200–220 GSM · Knit Construction · Cinqo FamilyBuki's signature Cinqo program is a five-layer engineered tech fabric — moisture-wicking face yarn, dimensional-stability core, anti-microbial treatment, four-way stretch, and easy-care finish. Used across the Cinqo Tech Tee, Cinqo Single Shot, and Cinqo Travel Half-Zip lines.
4-Way Recovery System
Elastane 4–8% · Recovery 95%+ at 100 wash cyclesAll Cinqo and Tech-Shirt products incorporate a four-way stretch with elastane-recovery rated to over 95% performance retention through 100 home wash cycles per ISO 6330 dimensional stability testing — measured against shoulder seam and waist hem.
Odor-Resistance Finish
AATCC 100 Tested · 4–5 Wear CyclesCinqo and tech-shirt fabrics carry an anti-microbial finish tested to AATCC 100 (antibacterial activity) — typical wear cycles between launderings extend to 4–5 days for a polo or tee in office use without measurable odor development.
Wrinkle-Resistant Cut
ISO 7768 Wrinkle Recovery · Travel-GradeTravel collection garments — the Travel Blazer ($228), Travel Duster Jacket ($99), and Cinqo Travel Half-Zip — are engineered for the suitcase test: wrinkle-recovery rated per ISO 7768, no-iron emerge from carry-on, hang-dry from a hotel hanger.
Sustainable Fiber Stack
Recycled Polyester · Tencel · Organic CottonThe Buki fabric stack pulls from recycled polyester (rPET), Tencel/lyocell from FSC-certified eucalyptus, organic cotton on the Collagen line, and merino wool blends. Eco-friendly is positioned as a measurable property — not as marketing.
Tailored Athletic Cut
S–XXL · Standard Fit · Petite & Tall on selectBuki's fit system targets a tailored athletic cut — closer to the body than a relaxed cotton tee, looser than a compression layer. Sizing runs S–XXL across most lines, with petite and tall options on the women's Collagen and Loungewear collections.

Cinqo — the five-layer fabric, dissected.
Cinqo is Buki's proprietary five-layer technical fabric — the program the brand built its reputation on. The thesis is straightforward: a luxury technical garment should not be a single fiber and a marketing claim. It should be a layered system in which each layer does one job well.
The Cinqo Tech Tee at $78 is the entry to the system. The Cinqo Single Shot Long-Sleeve at $158, the Cinqo Travel Half-Zip 2-Pack at $198, and the Cinqo 3-Pack Tee at $168 are the program at scale. The fabric stack — face yarn, recovery layer, anti-microbial treatment, dimensional-stability core, easy-care finish — is identical across the Cinqo family. What changes is the cut and the weight.
Below is the layer-by-layer breakdown — the same way a watchmaker would describe a movement.
Atelier · Buki
An engineering brief from the Buki atelier.
Buki was founded on a single observation: the luxury market sells beautiful clothing made from cotton from 1860, and the technical-apparel market sells engineered fabric in shapes that do not flatter. The forward-focused thinker — the architect, the consultant, the founder, the surgeon — was being asked to choose between dressing well and dressing functionally. We refused the choice.
Every Buki garment is designed around a measurable performance brief: four-way stretch with 95%+ recovery at 100 wash cycles (ISO 6330); anti-microbial finish tested to AATCC 100 standards; wrinkle-resistance rated to ISO 7768 — the suitcase test; eco-friendly sourcing across recycled polyester, Tencel, organic cotton, and merino. Then — and only then — we run the garment through the cutting room and tailor the fit to flatter the wearer.
Cinqo is the program where the thesis is most visible. Five layers, each engineered for one job, sewn into a tech tee that retails at $78 — pricing that brings serious technical apparel within reach of the people who actually need it for daily use. Travel Blazer at $228. Tech Exec Vest at $228. Happy Polo at $118. The math holds because the fabric is engineered, not marketed.

What does Cinqo actually mean? Is it a fabric or a marketing word?
Cinqo (from the Spanish word for "five") refers to the five engineered layers of Buki's proprietary tech-fabric system: face yarn, four-way recovery stretch, AATCC 100-tested anti-microbial finish, ISO 6330 dimensional-stability core, and ISO 7768 wrinkle-resistant easy-care finish. The full Cinqo lineup — Tech Tee ($78), Single Shot Long-Sleeve ($158), Travel Half-Zip 2-Pack ($198), 3-Pack ($168) — all use the same base fabric stack. It is a real fabric specification, not a marketing label.
How is Buki actually eco-friendly?
The Buki fiber stack pulls from recycled polyester (rPET), Tencel/lyocell (Lenzing-grade, FSC-certified eucalyptus pulp source), organic cotton (across the Collagen Collection), and merino wool blends. Recycled polyester displaces virgin polyester (one rPET garment offsets approximately 5–7 plastic bottles); Tencel uses a closed-loop solvent system with 99% solvent recovery (Lenzing AG published technical data). Eco-friendly is positioned as measurable, not as a marketing badge.
What's the difference between the Travel collection and the Work collection?
The Travel collection (Travel Blazer $228, Travel Duster $99, Cinqo Travel Half-Zip $198, Tech Exec Vest $228) optimizes for ISO 7768 wrinkle-resistance and the suitcase-pack test — these emerge from carry-on ready to wear. The Work collection (Happy Polo $118, Pocket Polo $118, Spectrum Check, Bastille Check, Connery short-sleeve $158) optimizes for office-appropriate cuts in technical fabrics. There is overlap — many Travel pieces also work for Work — but the engineering brief emphasizes different properties.
How does Buki's anti-microbial finish actually work, and is it safe?
Buki's anti-microbial treatment is tested to AATCC Test Method 100 (assessment of antibacterial finishes on textile materials). The finish typically uses silver-ion or zinc-pyrithione chemistries — both well-established and food-contact-safe under FDA Title 21 CFR. The practical effect: a Cinqo Tech Tee or polo can be worn 4–5 days in office use without measurable bacteria-driven odor development, against the 1–2 day baseline for untreated cotton. The treatment survives 100+ wash cycles when laundered per care label.
Why does the Cinqo 3-Pack cost $168 — that's $56 each?
The Cinqo Tech Tee 3-Pack ($168 for three) bundles three Cinqo Tech Tees in coordinated colorways (Ice Flow / Blue Night / Blue Grey). The single-tee retail is $78; the 3-pack runs effectively $56/tee — a 28% volume discount that the brand offers because the Cinqo program's economics work better at higher unit-volume. Pairs well with the Cinqo Travel Half-Zip 2-Pack ($198 for two, effective $99/each).
What sizing system does Buki use?
Standard US sizing — men's S through XXL on most lines, women's XS through XL. The Collagen Collection (women's) and select Loungewear pieces include Petite and Tall fits. The fit philosophy is "tailored athletic" — closer to the body than a relaxed cotton tee, looser than a compression layer. Always size up if between sizes, especially on the Cinqo program (the four-way stretch means the smaller size will fit but the larger size will hang better).
